PE, Sports & Physical Activity
Our Vision
The study of and participation in PESSPA is based on ensuring all our children 'flourish and achieve as unique creations of God'. At Hob Hill, we recognise that PE, sport and physical activity is important to our lives and learning. We are passionate about promoting physical activity, healthy lifestyles and instilling a love of PE so that individuals are able to make an active, purposeful use of their leisure time both now and in the future. Our curriculum offers a comprehensive range of experiences and opportunities for all children and aims to develop values of respect, resilience, fair play and team work. All children are exposed to healthy competition throughout the year via inter-school and intra-school events and participation and achievement in sports are shared and celebrated with our Hob Hill family.
Our curriculum at Hob Hill will:
Develop physical skills through the areas identified by the National Curriculum for Physical Education.
Offer a broad, balanced programme of activities across the whole school, including EYFS, which aim to foster enjoyment and success.
Use an established, effective partnership with Progressive Sports, a local coaching company, to support high quality provision of PESSPA.
Provide a range of enrichment opportunities and extracurricular clubs to give our children a wide experience of PE and raise awareness of how to lead a healthy lifestyle.
Ensure inter and intra school competitions are available to all, enabling our children to foster a healthy sense of competition and to celebrate their successes and those of others.
Provide Year 6 pupils with a residential experience, at Laches Wood Outdoor Education Centre, with the aim of developing social and physical qualities including collaboration and leadership skills.
Teach children to become confident, competent swimmers by taking Year 5 children to Rugeley Leisure Centre in order to meet the requirements for swimming and water-safety in the National Curriculum.
Continue to reflect, review and improve the quality of PESSPA provision through the allocated Sports Premium.
Competitive Sports
We provide our children with opportunities to take part in a range of competitive sports events. These include intra-school tournaments, fixtures against other local schools and District tournaments.
Whilst we are always keen for our pupils to be successful in their sporting endeavours, we also promote the old adage, "It's not the winning, but the taking part that counts!"
